Slammers Say Breyman Out as Manager

Mike Breyman's contract won't be renewed after a season in which the team chalked up 38 wins and 57 losses, General Manager Chris Franklin said.

After a dismal year that ended with a win-loss record of 38-57, the Joliet Slammers are in the market for a new field manager/director of baseball operations.

The decision not to renew the contract of Mike Breyman was announced in a news release issued by team General Manager Chris Franklin.

"The Slammers will look to fill the role immediately and would like to thank Breyman for his efforts in 2013 while wishing him the best moving forward," Franklin wrote in the release. "He was the second manager in franchise history."

Prior to coming to Joliet, Breyman was hitting coach for the Gateway Grizzlies in 2012 and the River City Rascals in 2010 and 2011. Franklin worked with Breyman when both were with the Rascals and the team won the Frontier League Championship in 2010. The next year, Breyman was named Frontier coach of the year.

The 2013 season was the first for the team under new ownership. The Slammers finished sixth out of seven teams in the Frontier League’s West Division.
