Joliet Lawyer Announces Will County Judicial Bid

James Murphy is running for the vacancy created with the retirement of Judge Richard Siegel.

Joliet lawyer James "Jim" Murphy wants to succeed Richard Siegel as the Will County judge for the second subcircuit.

Murphy has announced he will be a candidate on the March 14 primary ballot to fill the vacancy created with Siegel's retirement.

“I am running for circuit judge because I believe that a fair unbiased judiciary is
crucial to our system of government," Murphy said in news release on his election bid. "I believe that I have the experience, ability, and temperament to serve the people of Will County.”


Murphy is a graduate of IIT-Chicago Kent College of Law and works at Mahoney, Silverman & Cross in Joliet. He and wife Lynnann live in Shorewood with their two children.

In addition to his legal career, Murphy has been a soccer coach with the Shorewood Soccer League and is active with Boy Scout Troop 444. He has been an officer and advisor for both local and state organizations that
support the arts.
