Original post/4 p.m. June 17:

A man sought on a Will County arrest warrant for shooting two men on a back porch last week may also be a suspect in the Joliet murder that occurred Sunday morning, officials said Monday.

Zeeshan Rashid, 19, of Joliet, is believed to be the lone assailant who shot two men, ages 45 and 19, at about 9:45 p.m. June 13 while they stood on the back porch of a residence at 617 Algonquin, just outside the city limits of Joliet, Will County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said.

"Our investigators have positively ID'd him as the individual responsible for the double shooting," Kaupas said.

Joliet police also have evidence that Rashid may be responsible for killing 18-year-old Adrian Resendiz, whose body was discovered at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the back yard of a house at 126 Baker Ave., and for committing an armed robbery in Joliet on Saturday, Kaupas said.

Beyond that, a warrant has been issued by the Joliet Police Department for Rashid on an unrelated unlawful use of a weapon charge and the Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking Rashid for a parole violation, he said.

"The links between the cases are still be investigated," Kaupas said, "but on the surface they appear to be gang related."

In the Will County case, the shootings appeared targeted but neither victim was seriously injured, officials said. One man was shot in the hand and the other received five bullet wounds to the legs.

In the Sunday murder, residents reported hearing shots fired at about 6 a.m. but Resendiz's body went undiscovered for an hour and a half.

Police are seeking the public's help in tracking down Rashid, who is described as "armed and extremely dangerous," Kaupas said. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to the person or persons who assist in his capture, he said.

Anyone with information should call Will County investigators at 815-727-8574, Ext. 4943, Joliet police investigators at 815-724-3020 or 815-724-3035, or Crimestoppers of Will County at 800-323-6734.

According to the Will County jail log, Rashid stands about 5-foot-6 and weighs about 130 pounds. His last known address is listed as 617 Fox.

Jail records show that Rashid's previous arrest record includes busts for robbery in May 2011, obstructing identification in June 2011, felony theft in May 2012 and obstructing/resisting a peace officer in April 2013.
