Update: Joliet Man Gunned Down Tuesday Night Found Mortally Wounded on South Joliet St. Porch

Police were guarding the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room after the wounded man was taken to there, police said.

Update at 8:45 a.m. June 4:

The man shot to death Tuesday night was found fatally wounded on a South Joliet Street porch.

Markus Tanzy, 25, was taken from the porch on Joliet Street near Marion Street to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center about 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead in the St. Joseph emergency room soon after.

Tanzy was shot about a quarter mile from the Joliet Police Department.

Officers investigating numerous shots fired in the area found Tanzy on the porch, said Joliet police Lt. Brian Dupuis. Police had no witnesses or suspects Wednesday morning, said Dupuis, who asked anyone with information on the killing to call either Will County Crime Stoppers at 800-323-6734 or Joliet detectives at 815-724-3020.

A Joliet man was gunned down Tuesday night and died at the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room.

Markus Tanzy, 25, was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m. at the hospital.

A source said police were guarding the emergency room Tuesday night after a man with a gunshot wound arrived. The woman said there was "fighting and screaming inside the hospital."

Police officials did not immediately respond to calls for comment on the killing.

Tanzy just got out of the Will County jail a little more than a month ago. He was locked up for 18 days on charges of trespassing, criminal damage to property and possession of cannabis.

Tanzy had been jailed several times in his short life, according to county records, and did eight months in prison for a burglary conviction.
