The little girl was left unattended in a vehicle in downtown Joliet, police said.

A Joliet woman faces a child endangerment charge after allegedly leaving her 3-year-old unattended in a vehicle while shopping in downtown Joliet.

Mayra Galvan Mancera, 21, of the 1000 block of Cora Street, is charged with endangering the life or health of a child after the tot reportedly wandered out into the street, police said.

Capt. Tab Jensen said police received a call from a bystander who spotted the little girl in the road in the 150 block of Chicago Street at about 7:11 p.m.

Jensen said the child had been left unattended in a vehicle and was able to get out of the car and wander into the street while her mother shopped in a clothing store.

According to Jensen, Galvan Mancera had left the store and was with the child by the time police arrived.

Jensen said he did not know how long the 3-year-old was left unattended, or whether she had been secured in a child safety seat.

The girl was not injured in the incident, police said.
