A service will be held Monday at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church in Lockport.

Gregory Travis

Gregory Travis was born January 12, 1961 in Joliet Illinois. He was a lifelong resident of Lockport IL. Gregory departed this life suddenly on Thursday October 10, 2013 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.

Gregory accepted Christ at an early age. Gregory attended Lockport School District. Gregory served in the United Stated Army.  Gregory was employed at Mancuso Cheese Factory. Gregory was formally a mason brick layer.

Gregory  loved his children and had a passion for singing , playing the guitar, and playing many instruments.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents Betty Ann Hall and S.L. “Pete” Kelly, brother, Jerry Kelly, nieces, Shawana Travis, and Sharita Kelly, nephew, Corey Kelly, grandparents, Curtis and Rosie Lee Travis, and Levester and Lavada Kelly, cousins, Conley Ratcliffe and Johnnie Mae Ratcliffe, and longtime girlfriend, Ruby J. Hughes.

Cherishing memories are his four daughters: Shenisha Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Shiree (Walter) Mason, and Jada Travis, two sons; Avery (Meesha) Johnson and Terry Ramsey, sisters; Lisa (Sylvester) Lee, Cynthia Gray, Darlene Abdullah, Sammy Kelly, Michelle (Louis) Bass, Elaina (Henry) Shelton, Petrina Kelly, and Sonja Marsh, seven grandchildren; Gee Dweh, Tony Travis, Skyla Mason, Averiana Johnson, Lebreah Johnson, Jaylah Johnson, and Ta’Ron Ramsey, special friends: Barbara Ward and James Tribble, special uncle, Joe (Joyce) Travis, uncles; Charles (Della) Travis, Henry Travis, and William (Hinesha) Travis, aunt, Winona Travis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a goddaughter, Natasha Edwards.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Ebal M.B. Church, 221 Cameron Dr., Lockport, IL.  Rev. Cornell Ervins, Pastor.  Service at 11 a.m., Rev. Louis Bass, Jr., officiating.  Interment following at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
