Man Stabbed in Downtown Joliet Parking Lot

Joliet police said surveillance tape from a neighboring liquor store allowed them to track down a suspect, who's been charged with aggravated battery.

A Joliet man found stabbed and bleeding in a downtown liquor store parking lot Saturday night was apparently knifed by a man with whom he had an argument, Joliet police said Monday. The victim, 37, was discovered at about 9:30 p.m. in the lot next to the Bashir & Sons liquor store, 83 W. Jefferson St., Cmdr. Brian Benton said. Initially, it was believed the man had collapsed from being intoxicated until his shirt was removed and puncture wounds to his chest and abdomen were discovered, Benton said. He was rushed to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he underwent emergency surgery and remains in intensive care, Benton said. Gas Station Fight Leads to Stabbing, Joliet Police Say

A father and two sons are in custody for the attack, which was apparently triggered by the victim pulling his car too close to the suspects' vehicle, police said.

A Joliet father and his two sons who allegedly stabbed a man during a fight at a gas station Saturday have been arrested on aggravated battery charges, Joliet Police Cmdr. Brian Benton said. The fight occurred at about 2 p.m. at the Mobil station at 1529 N. Broadway St., apparently triggered by the victim pulling too close to the three suspects' vehicle, Benton said. A verbal altercation ensued and eventually became violent, he said. After the victim pushed to ground, one of three pulled a knife and stabbed him before the trio fled, Benton said. The man, 49, was critically injured, and transported to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for emergency surgery. He is now in stable condition, Benton said. Witnesses were able to write down the …

Woman, 1-Year-Old Child Burned by Man with Hot Iron, Joliet Police Say

The suspect, who claimed both incidents were accidental, was charged with aggravated battery, Cmdr. Rich Demick said.

A Joliet man who claimed he burned his 1-year-old niece with an iron while he was trying to teach her it was "hot" and later did the same thing with his sister when he was "playing around" was arrested on aggravated battery charges Thursday. Joliet police learned of the two incidents after being notified by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, who had been contacted by Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet when the 24-year-old woman and her child came in to be treated for their injuries, Cmdr.
