Joliet police say an artist's sketch based on the mailman's description led to the arrest of 20-year-old Dimitri Knight.
A 20-year-old Joliet man is in custody, charged by Joliet police with the May 9 robbery of a postal carrier in the St. Pat's neighborhood. Dimitri Knight, of 462 Water St., was arrested at about 2:15 p.m. Monday at the Chicago home of his girlfriend and charged with aggravated robbery, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said. The victim, who was robbed of an iPhone and $13 while delivering mail in the 0 to 100 block of North Cagwin Avenue on May 9, gave police a detailed description of the suspect who said he was armed with a knife, Roechner said. A Joliet man who left his pit bull -- a dog he was prohibited from owning as a felon -- emaciated and chained to his back porch was arrested Monday on animal cruelty and other charges. The situation at Adrian R. Williams' 1107 Magnolia Ave. home was discovered in March by Will County Sheriff's Office deputies, who notified Joliet Township Animal Control, sheriff's office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. The dog was removed by animal control and an investigation conducted, Hoffmeyer said.
