The 18-year-old who allegedly shot three teens in the back Tuesday night was hanging out with a couple guys on a Richards Street porch, police said.
The Joliet teen who slunk up behind a group of young people hanging out on Second Avenue Tuesday night and shot three in the back was captured Wednesday morning, police said. The alleged gunman, 18-year-old Sjolante Crowder, apparently didn't make much effort to get away, as he was spotted sitting on a Richards Street porch with two other men shortly before noon. Officers tipped to Crowder's whereabouts found him still sitting there when they made it over, said Joliet police Cmdr. Brian Benton. When Crowder saw the cops, Benton said, he tried to step away. The two teenagers gunned down on Second Avenue Tuesday night have been identified. Delasse Lanier, 18, and Adrian Knox, 17, both of Joliet, were pronounced dead at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil's office released a statment saying autopsies will be performed on the two young men today. Detectives are still piecing together the events that led to Lanier and Knox getting shot on Second Avenue between Hobbs and Aikin avenues. Lanier and Knox were the second and third Joliet teens slain in the city within 24 hours. On Monday night, 18-year-old Tevin Bridges was shot to death in the Lois Place apartments. It's all juveniles today, and the kids aren't all right, police said.
Four teenage girls were arrested for making harassing telephone calls to another teen, police said. All four of the arrested are 17. They were taken into custody near the corner of Ottawa and McDonough streets about 9 p.m. Monday The four girls were making the harassing, threatening calls to the other teen's cell phone, police said. The teens were charged with harassment by telephone. Each of them was released to a parent. A local teen wreaked havoc outside a house on Jerald Drive Monday morning. The 17-year-old ripped out plants, tore away a downspout and destroyed landscaping lights, police said. The teen was captured near the intersection of Cathy Drive and Christine Court.
