60-Day Suspension for Will County Judge who Viewed Porn at Work

The Illinois Courts Commission called Judge Joseph Polito's use of work hours to view sex sites an "inexcusable waste of judicial time."

The Will County judge who claimed his addiction to porn caused him to view sex Web sites while at work was suspended for 60 days without pay Friday by the Illinois Courts Commission. While people do develop addictions to alcohol, drugs and pornography, the commission wrote that Judge Joseph Polito's decision to do engage in porn viewing while at work was an "inexcusable waste of judicial time that should have been spent on available judicial duties,” according to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times. Polito, 69, told the commission in November that he suffered from a lifelong addiction to porn, which crossed over into his work day. While he used county computers to view sex Web sites, he said his actions did not affect the rulings he made on …

What, after all, is a judge? A guy who goes to law school, which is heavy in ethics classe's, gets a juris degree, passe's the bar, and throws away all the ethics course's he paid for. If hes a real talented shyster, hob nobs with politico's at country clubs and gay bar's, he gets elected or appointed to a judgeship. So I ask again, what is a judge? Judge Blames Lifelong Porn Viewing Addiction in Hearing to Keep Job

Will County Judge Joseph Polito told the Illinois Courts Commission Thursday that his habit did not affect his job or any judicial ruling he made.

Will County Judge Joseph Polito admitted to a nearly lifelong addiction to porn Thursday when addressing the Illiniois Courts Commission in an effort to keep his judicial position. Polito, of Joliet, is quoted in an online Chicago Sun-Times story as being shamed by the revelation that he was viewing pornography on his computer while at work, but that it did not affect his performance as a judge. The addiction began when he was a child, Polito said, and he is now receiving professional help, attends a Sexuality Anonymous support group twice weekly and hasn’t used porn in more than a year, according to the story. “I used pornography as a crutch to deal with my feelings of inadequacy,” he told the commission. “For 60 years this was an inner …

Is this a joke that he states it does not affect his rulings? He is judging people who are many times out of control yet cannot control himself? And he is indulging his addiction in the courthouse? It is not a matter of him respecting women. It is a matter of him respecting his position, the courthouse and his total inability or lack of restraint. Really does not matter, however. His punishment …   more ›

Will County Judge Admits to On-the-Job Porn Viewing; Seeking Professional Help

Judge Joseph Polito says he watched porn on his courthouse computer before and after court sessions, even though he knew it violated county rules, published report says.

Will County Judge Joseph Polito says he watched pornography via his courthouse computer during work hours, and is now seeking help to stop his behavior, a story in the Chicago Sun-Times says. Polito made the confession in documents he filed with the Illinois Courts Commission in the wake of a Sun-Times report four months ago that his computer had been used repeatedly to view porn sites. Charges have been filed against him by the Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board. Polito admitted viewing pornography before and after court calls, and even though he was aware there was a county policy against viewing such materials on county computers, the story said. Polito's attorney, in the documents filed with the commission, said Polito “has been treated …

This puritanical nonsense is the only thing that is sad to read. OMG! PORN! HE IS TEH EBIL! Would any of you care this much if he was watching a violent movie? You live in a society that has a problem with sex, but is perfectly fine with scenes of people killing each other. Does anyone get 'shamed' for watching 'Die Hard'? Get over yourselves. Sex is a normal part of life, murder is not.   more ›
