Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil presided over the civil inquest into Kathleen Savio's death in 2004. The coroner's jury ruled that Savio's death was the result of an accident, despite impassioned, emotional statements made by those close to her. At least one member of the jury later said they were told to rule Savio's death an accident, a homicide or a suicide. If given the choice of choice of undetermined, the juror said, the jury would have voted that way. The jury was not given that option.
