St Joseph Academy provides a Christian-based education for students ages 3-14, and strives to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn to be productive, responsible members of society. St Joseph is not officially affiliated with the Catholic church or the Joliet Archdiocese, but rather provides a Catholic-based education. In 2010, the school lost its aid from the Archdiocese, and in response, the community helped reopen it as an independent entity. The school prides itself on the diversity of its students and staff. Its curriculum includes religious material, instruction in the fine arts and physical education and as state-mandated requirements. Small class sizes allow for greater attention from the teacher and a tighter-knit student community. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten are Montessori=based programs. Before- and after-school care for young children is available.
