Joliet Area Community Hospice is a not-for-profit organization providing care to terminally ill patients in Will, Grundy and Kendall counties. It has 140 full- and part-time staff members, as well as 250 trained volunteers, and serves more than 1,200 patients every year. Joliet Area Community Hospice was the first freestanding hospice in Illinois when it was constructed in 2004. Joliet Area Community Hospice does not turn away patients due to inability to pay and offers payment plans on a case-by-case basis. According to a 2010 family evaluation survey of hospice care, 98.6 percent of those asked said they would recommend the services of Joliet Area Community Hospice to others seeking palliative care for themselves or for loved ones.
