Clifton Garrett All-American Bowl Game This Saturday

The star linebacker for Plainfield South High School in Joliet is expected to play college ball for LSU.

Set your DVRs, or plan to be home to watch: this weekend, it will be Plainfield South linebacker Clifton Garrett's time to shine as he takes part in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Game time is noon Saturday, Jan. 4, at San Antonio's Alamodome. On Sunday, a spokesperson for the Army All-American Bowl tweeted photos of Garrett arriving in San Antonio to start practicing for the big event.

Garrett, 18, is of the country's top 90 high school football players selected for the East vs. West showdown. It's been a whirlwind year for the star player for the Joliet-based school, but he said things have calmed down a bit since he announced he was committing to LSU.

Garrett arrived in San Antonio Sunday morning and has already had his first practice with his fellow All-Americans.

"I'm having a great day, just bonding with some of the guys," he said Monday. "I'm looking forward to the game. I'm not feeling any pressure — just looking to have some fun, make some plays."

Garrett said he's already training for his first season with LSU and working to recruit some fellow Tigers.
