Quinn Announces $1.3 Million for Projects in Joliet, Lockport

Gov. Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $1.3 million for construction projects in Will County. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.

“These projects will address critical infrastructure needs in Will County, improve safety and increase mobility,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which benefits the local economy.”

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

In Joliet, a left turn lane will be added to the ramps at two U.S. Route 30 and I-55 intersections for $2,538,770 by R.W. Dunteman Company of Addison, the lowest of four bidders. Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program funds are financing the project. 

In Lockport, Garfield Avenue from Division Street to Illinois Route 7 will be improved for $1,081,516 by Austin Tyler Construction, Inc. of Elwood, the lowest of four bidders. The work includes new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement markings, landscaping, storm sewers and lighting. Federal Surface Transportation Program and local funds are financing the project.
