Mudron Announces He's Running for Joliet City Council

Joliet businessman announces candidacy.

Local businessman and former Joliet Catholic wrestling standout Patrick Mudron has thrown his hat into the ring for the April 2015 city council race.

Mudron, a partner at Mudron Kane Insurance agency and president of the Joliet Park District Foundation, announced his plans Wednesday to run for the District 2 seat currently held by Bob O'Dekirk.

O'Dekirk, meanwhile, is challenging Mayor Tom Giarrante, who has said he plans to seek re-election.

Mudron, a lifelong Joliet resident, is past chairman of the Work Force Investment Board of Will County and served as president of the  Will County Old Timers Baseball Association, Joliet Catholic Athletic Boosters, and Cathedral of St. Raymond athletic board, school board and parish council.

"Serving on  these boards and dealing with so many different situations has enabled me to develop into the leader Joliet needs," Mudron said in a press release announcing his candidacy on Wednesday. " ... I understand the unique nature of board cooperation needed to reach the common goal of leading the city of Joliet to the next level. I am not a politician, and have no desire to do anything except make Joliet one of the premiere cities in Illinois."

Mudron was a state wrestling champion at Joliet Catholic, where he also played football. He gradated from the University of Notre Dame and has been an insurance broker in the Joliet area for 43 years.
