Mayor Giarrante's Annual 50th Wedding Anniversary Party is Good as Gold

What started as a small get-together two years ago has grown to become a community event.

The following news release was submitted by the committee to elect Tom Giarrante:

When Joliet Mayor Tom Giarrante and his wife Rose celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary two years ago, their intention was to host a small celebration honoring all Joliet-area couples who joined them in passing their matrimonial milestone.

“We were completely surprised when over 60 couples showed up,” Giarrante said. “When it came time to take a group photo, we barely had enough room to get all of the couples in frame.”

Since then, the Giarrante’s have made their Golden Anniversary Party and group photo an annual event, and attendance has grown each year.

As in past years, the celebration is open to all Joliet couples who either have been married for 50 years or more, or will celebrate their 50th Anniversary some time this year.

“We just want to thank the community that has been so good to us and celebrate with other local couples who have also marked this important occasion,” Mayor Giarrante said.

Those who wish to attend the event and pose for the group photo should RSVP by November 4, 2013 by calling 815-724-3700.
