Joliet Park District Board OKs Video Gaming at Inwood Golf Course

Board votes to allow gaming machines.

The Joliet Park District board has given the green light to video gaming at Inwood Golf Course, 3200 W. Jefferson St.

The board voted 5-0 Wednesday morning to allow the installation of video gambling machines at the golf course, according to WJOL.

The Illinois Gaming Board has started the implementation process. Park district CEO Dominic Egizio said the earliest the machines could be installed, up and running is four weeks.

The park district already has a license for gaming at Inwood, with plans to apply for licenses at its two other golf courses, Wedgewood and Woodruff. The state only allows entities to apply for one license at a time.

But don't expect video gambling machines at any other park district facility.

"I don't think we would consider it anywhere else" besides the golf courses, Egizio said.

For now, the park district is aiming for two machines at each location, although that could increase if video gaming is successful. The state allows a maximum of five machines per location.

The City of Joliet approved video gaming in bars and restaurants in 2012; last September, the gaming board said no other town has embraced gaming like Joliet, which had the highest number of terminals than any other city in the state.
