Joliet Garbage Collection Resumes Wednesday

Waste Management has told city officials that it intends to pick up all trash normally collected the first two days of the week on Wednesday.

Monday and Tuesday garbage pickup has been delayed to Wednesday, according to a city of Joliet news release.

Waste Management told the city it will attempt to collect both in one day, and may be able to collect recycling trash as well, the release said. The company will start its day at 6 a.m., which is one hour earlier than normal, and employees will work until the collections rounds are completed.

Anyone whose normal garbage collection day is Wednesday, Thursday or Friday will have their pickup postponed by one day, the release said.

The collection delays are due to the weather. Snow followed by sub-zero temperatures on Monday and Tuesday have made being outside for long periods of time extremely dangerous.
