Drew Peterson Son Suing Oak Brook For Firing Him

The former Oak Brook cop son of Drew Peterson has a $10 million lawsuit, says the Sun-Times.

The disgraced former Oak Brook cop son of disgraced former Bolingbrook cop (and current murder defendant) Drew Peterson claims in a $10 million lawsuit his rights were violated when he was fired, according to a story in the Sun-Times.

Stephen Peterson, who was fired in , is suing in federal court. He is going after former Oak Brook Police Chief Thomas Sheahan, Fire and Police Board Chairman Frederick Cappetta and the Village of Oak Brook.

The three-man Oak Brook Fire and Police board voted as a bloc in 2011 to ax Stephen Peterson from the department he had worked at for more than six years. Sheahan had charged Stephen Peterson with obstructing investigators, possession of an unlawful weapon, and failing to keep an internal investigation confidential. The board cleared Stephen Peterson of the last two allegations but found him guilty of the first one.

Stephen Peterson is also waging a court battle to get back his job. He is being represented in that action by Fraternal Order of Police attorney Tamara Cummings.

According to the Sun-Times story, Stephen Peterson is claiming "violation of due process under the 14th Amendment, tortuous interference with advantageous business relations, breach of contract, defamation and slander, and intentional infliction of emotional distress."

Drew Peterson is set to go to trial in less than two weeks on charges he murdered his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Drew Peterson is also suspected of possibly killing his missing fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.

Stephen Peterson is the son of Drew Peterson's first wife, Carol Hamilton, who is neither missing nor slain.

Now I could see If Stephen was getting divorced, being personally sued or something entirely different and not Police related he should not be in uniform or take a squad to court. However this is a grand jury pertainIng to a possible criminal fact finding hearing and if he's working he's fulfilling his obligation appearing in court on the subpenoa.
Watchful Eye July 13, 2012 at 02:01 AM
Moreli, I have no idea if his Police Chief would take his village issued vehicle to appear before a GJ on a personal matter. That's what we're talking about. Stephen Peterson was not on official Oak Brook PD business. Why do you refuse to acknowledge that? It's pointless to further this discussion. I think most of us realize you are a buddy of Peterson's, know him personally, and know police department rules (at least those of BB). :-) It might be a "stupid" rule he broke, but you know, as an officer, if you break the department rules, you can be assured of a suspension. Show up at roll call without all your gear, and what happens? But, in an effort to end this silly battle that is doomed, you can have the last word, as usual.

Rest easy, America. Be it the Peterson soap opera, Naperville house fires or local pizza joints, John Moreli is there, unashamedly offering up his sputtering, useless, bigoted, frothing-at-the-mouth opinions. John Moreli. The Bully of the Patch Playground. HE'S EVERYWHERE! HE'S EVERYWHERE!
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 02:13 AM
Watchful eye if you are not in Law enforcement which I assume you are not , you have no clue how each department functions, their rules of taking squads to court or their SOP's ! Then you can't say what's right or wrong what Stephen did by going to court in uniform. Please tell me too what happens if an Officer shows up to roll call w/o all of his gear? Nothing! He just goes back to his locker and gets it.
Ken July 13, 2012 at 03:22 AM
John Moreli, How is him testifying before a GJ about his FATHER not personal? Did he wear his uniform and drive the squad to court for the divorce from Teresa? Give it up. He used poor judgement. Sometimes life lessons are hard ones to learn.
Ken July 13, 2012 at 03:25 AM
John Moreli, Since you insist that his appearance in Joliet was related to his job as an Oak Brook cop, did his Chief also show up and testify about Drew? Of course he didn't because Oak Brook has NOTHING to do with the GJ. Maybe if Stephen gets a job at McDonalds, he can show up wearing that uniform next time. He may have more influence if he brings some fries for everyone.
Will Joseph July 13, 2012 at 05:51 AM
Again, "valugar"?!! I'M STILL LMAO! (It's "vulgar," Johnny dear. The word that simply won't fit into that Tic Tac-sized brain of yours is "vulgar.") And gee whiz, what happened to your prior insult re: "Bolingbrook trash"? I live closer to Homer Glen, FYI. So be sure that next time, when you make John Moreli Patch Comment # 115,987,885,206, you hate and condemn the people who live there, too. (Hey, maybe you could refer to it as "HOMO Glen"! THAT would be appropriate for someone with a single-digit IQ, like yours.) One last thing, and then you'll have to forgive me, as I have an actual LIFE that I need to be getting back to, unlike some people: Bullies suck. Everyone here is looking at YOU, J.M.
Will Joseph July 13, 2012 at 05:55 AM
Please see my last post, toward the very bottom. The dolt doesn't know how to spell "vulgar," either . . .
just me July 13, 2012 at 06:11 AM
what about all the police officers who get to take their squads home? is that not a waste of tax payers money? If what steve did was sooooo wrong...why did the state police not charge him with anything and the Oak Brook PD did? Steve was at work and got the call to go to the court house.....SINCE he was at work...it is only natural to jump in the squad and head down there like he has done a million other times...SO he should lose his job for this? I don't think so......drew and steve are 2 different people.....treat them that way!
Ken July 13, 2012 at 12:03 PM
You're grasping at straws. Name one suburb in the Chicago area that allows officers to take the squad car home or use it for personal use. Stephen was not at work when he got a call to go to Joliet. He was issued a subpoena and knew in advance that he had to testify. You may not know this but Oak Brook is in DuPage County, not Will. Stephen hasn't gone to court in Joliet a million times for work. The only reason he had to go that day was because of HIS DAD. HIS DAD doesn't live in Oak Brook, the crime being investigated did NOT happen in Oak Brook, no other Oak Brook cops were called to testify. If his job was anything other than a cop, would he have taken a company car and showed up in that uniform as well. Doubtful.
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 01:50 PM
Let's see Ken all County Police Officers and State Police Officers take their squads home! So don't say none do!
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 01:58 PM
By the way Ken when you have no clue how a subpenoa or a grand jury works do you?
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 02:12 PM
Ken stop crying about Stephen taking the squad car too court already. So what. If you don't leave in Oakbrook myob!!
Ken July 13, 2012 at 02:14 PM
John Moreli, You've proven that you have some problems with comprehension. Name one suburb that allows their officers to take the squad car home or use it for personal use. Stephen isn't a County or State cop. He was a cop for Oak Brook and they do not allow their officers to take the squads home or use them for personal use.
Ken July 13, 2012 at 02:17 PM
John Moreli, Apparently you don't know how they work if you think that they call you while you're at work and tell you that you must immediately leave what you're doing and drive 30 miles to testify before a GJ. Is that what you're sayind happened to Stephen and that's his excuse for wearing his uniform and driving his squad to Joliet?
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 02:25 PM
Yes Ken I know more than you how the court system works! With a subpenoa you either call the day before or the day of court and see if they need you or they will call you when they think you are needed! Care to bet on that! Like I said get over its none if your business what Stephen did! Whaa!
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 02:35 PM
Lets see Ken in Bolingbrook,Woodridge and Romeoville he K-9 officers take their squads home! But of you are so concerned if other Departments take their squads home do some research and you will be surprised some do!
Alex July 13, 2012 at 03:15 PM
John, You don't live in Oak Brook or Bolingbrook but you seem to be preoccupied with both. Get a life and go back to your neighborhood with the burned down house.
Alex July 13, 2012 at 03:35 PM
John, Just because you're friends with Drew and Stephen, doesn't make you an expert. Heck, look what happened to them. Go right ahead and follow their footstep. Let's see how much you know then. LOL! I've got a life so I'm out of here. What does your wife have to say about your obsession with being The Patch bully?
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 03:41 PM
Because I know more about LE than the average lay person here !
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 03:43 PM
My wife laughs at the comments here , because she knows people that dont know anything about LE have no clue what they are saying here.
Joe B July 13, 2012 at 04:00 PM
Ken, Leave John Moreli alone already! He knows alot more than you think. Betya didn't know that Steve Peterson was a K-9 cop for Oak Brook did you? That's why he had his car in Joliet. The dog was in the backseat waiting for him when he was done with his testimony. They enjoyed a snack at the dog park off of Royce Rd on his way back to Oak Brook.
Watchful Eye July 13, 2012 at 06:19 PM
Moreli, I want to THANK YOU for your comment posting of yesterday at 9:13 pm. You made my points for me. We DO know how OB functions and their rules for taking a squad car out of their beat/sector for personal use, such as testifying at a GJ on a personal matter not related to the job. They function by suspending officers who violate THEIR rules, just like every other department. Apparently, you did not get the memo, Moreli. You don't seem to grasp that Peterson violated a particular rule and was suspended for it. You are fighting a lost cause here. You don't like the rule, and you claim the rest of us don't know what we are talking about, so you continue to beat the issue down until you draw out people who are sick and tired of your useless blabber. The John Moreli law. Why do you ASSUME I know nothing about law enforcement or how different departments work? Only you do? Okay, buddy boy, if it makes you feel like John Wayne making that statement as if you know it all, knock yourself silly. Some of us don't have to assert ourselves to the point of blubbering out gibberish just to make a point. Some of us don't assume things about others here. But, as always, you win. You da man.
Ray July 13, 2012 at 07:23 PM
Sorry Ken I was thinking about bail and mistyped. What I meant was without trial. Right to a speedy trial and all, sorry. As for disgraced tomatoe/tomatoe. I'll wait until everything is finished. I'm really more concerned about Joe's obvious bias against anything named Peterson as well as the total lack of coverage about all the negatives being caused by this case that could affect us all in the future.
Ken July 13, 2012 at 08:28 PM
Ray, Drew gave up his right to a speedy trial 3 years ago tomorrow. http://www.wgnradio.com/news/top/wgnam-peterson-trial-delay-071409,0,3136685.story "Peterson was scheduled to stand trial Aug. 24 on charges that he murdered his ex-wife Kathleen Savio in 2004. But White canceled that trial date today, after asking Peterson whether he understood that he was giving up his right to a speedy trial. Peterson, wearing blue jail scrubs, stared down at his lap and replied "Yes, your honor."
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 08:52 PM
Let's test Watchful eye! A scum bag walks into a 7-11 announces a hold up and implies he has a gun, but never displays one , scum gets money and flees! What crime has been committed?!
TOMato July 13, 2012 at 10:31 PM
OMG! It's layperson you f'n idiot!
Watchful Eye July 13, 2012 at 10:49 PM
Let's test John Morelil. Close your mouth and press your lips together. Take your index finger and strum it up and down over your lips. Have someone take your picture while you're doing it and post the link here. I think we'd all enjoy seeing that. BTW, Stephen Peterson took a police car from Oak Brook to Joliet to appear before a GJ investigating his father. End of story. What rule violation has been committed? That is the subject of this whole thread, isn't it, Moreli. Get a grip man. You're losing it.
John Moreli July 13, 2012 at 11:35 PM
Watchful Eye I'm still waiting for a logical answer from a non LE thug!
John Moreli July 14, 2012 at 01:44 AM
See watchful eye you are a layperson and are clueless! You can't answer my question and instead you deflect it. Feel free to call some P.D.'s and see what they would have said or done if one of their Offers took a squad to court like Stephen? Nothing! Would you like the direct line to B.P.D.? :-)
