Joliet garbage pickup will not be affected by the Columbus Day holiday on Oct. 8, but there will be no mail delivery and most banks and government buildings will be closed.
Joliet City Hall will be closed due to the holiday. There will be no cost that day to use the downtown city parking decks and parking meters.
Also closed: the Will County Courthouse and other county buildings, the Joliet Public Library, local grade and high schools, and most area banks. There will be no mail delivery.
