City to Remove Every Ash Tree in the Warwick Subdivision

The trees are either infested with the emerald ash borer or will likely be so if the infested trees remain, officials said.

The city of Joliet issued this news release about its ongoing program of removing ash trees that are infested with emerald ash borer:

Due to the infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer the City of Joliet will be removing all ash trees in Warwick Subdivision.

It is vital to remove the infested ash trees as soon as possible to ensure public safety. It takes a healthy ash tree 1-3 years to die after the initial infestation. During this period, the tree will deteriorate greatly creating a hazardous situation for the public.

The mortality rate for infested ash trees is 100%; all untreated ash trees will eventually die.
