County Employee Strike Over; Tentative Contract Deal Reached

No details on the contract were released other than an agreement has been reached on "all outstanding issues."

More than 1,000 Will County employees, on strike for more than two weeks, return to their jobs Thursday thanks to a tentative contract agreement reached early Wednesday morning between AFSCME Local 1028 and county officials. No contract details will be released until after the pact is ratified by workers and approved by the county.

Here is a joint statement released by both sides:


At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, negotiators for Will County and AFSCME, Local 1028 reached tentative agreement on all the outstanding issues in their negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement.  AFSCME-represented employees will be returning to work beginning with the first shift on Thursday, December 5th.  No details of the tentative agreement will be released until after the ratification vote which is scheduled for Thursday, December 5th.
