Woman Attacks Her Ex-Boyfriend's Mother with Bat, Police Say

Michelle Willhite faces two counts of aggravated battery in the incident, which fractured the victim's arm and left her hospitalized, Joliet police said.

Michelle Willhite intended to take a baseball bat to her ex-boyfriend's car when she was stopped by the man's mother, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

So, she took her wrath out on the mother instead, Roechner said, striking her in the left arm with the bat and driving into the woman's heel.

Willhite, 30, of 1716 N. Broadway St., Crest Hill, was arrested Jan. 24 and charged with two counts of aggravated battery.

According to reports, Willhite got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend outside his 607 Florence Ave. home at about 5 p.m. Jan. 15. After the man returned to the house, his mother observed Willhite retrieve a bat from her car and walk toward the man's car, he said.

The mother confronted Willhite, who told her she planned to "bust out the car windows," Roechner said. When the woman told her she wouldn't allow that to happen, Willhite struck the woman's left arm with the bat, knocking her to the ground, he said.

She then got into her car and drove into the woman's foot, he said.

The victim was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet for treatment, and was unable to give her account of the story to police until Jan. 18, Roechner said. Based on her information and that provided by the son, a warrant was issued for Willhite's arrest.

Willhite was taken into custody at about 9 a.m. Jan. 24 in the 2200 block of Oneida in Joliet. She is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

Willhite has previously been arrested in Will County in 2012 for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault charges, in 2006 for battery and carrying/possessing a firearm charges, and in 2002 for knowingly damaging property, according to Will County circuit clerk records.

She's also had three orders of protection filed against her, one in 2012 and two in 2009, by Augustus Griffin and one in 2014 by Augusta Griffin.
