Trapped in the Closet? Man & Teen Caught Hiding in Evergreen Terrace Closet During Search For Gunman: Police

The teen was hit with weapons charges and two men were charged with trespassing at Evergreen Terrace.

Cops searching for a gunman spotted lurking about the Evergreen Terrace hallways happened upon a man and a teen hiding in an apartment closet, police said.

Evergreen Terrace security reportedly called the police about 7:30 p.m. Thursday after a surveillance camera caught three men, one of whom was carrying a gun, walking down a hall.

Officers went to an apartment near where the trio was seen and obtained consent to search from a resident, police said.

While they were looking around, police said, the officers found "two males hiding in a closet." The officers also reportedly located a pair of .380-caliber pistols in a paper bag inside a garbage bag in the apartment's kitchen.

The younger of the two in the closet, a 17-year-old, was wearing the same clothes as the person seen carrying a gun in the surveillance video, police said. He reportedly admitted one of the pistols belonged to him.

The teen was charged with the unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without an owner's identification card and possession of ammunition without an owner's identification card. He was taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

The man the police said they found hiding in the closet with the teen, 21-year-old Jason Jackson of 117 W. 117th St. in Chicago, was charged with trespassing. So was another Chicago man—Lamont Coleman, 25, of 11357 S. Carpenter St.

Jackson and Coleman were released on their own recognizance.
