A 16-year-old Joliet boy who posted a photo of his naked girlfriend on Instagram and pulled a BB-gun on the girl's mother when she confronted him about it was arrested Monday night, Joliet police said.

The teen reportedly obtained the photo from his 15-year-old girlfriend, who sent it to his cell phone, Cmdr. Al Roecher said. He uploaded it to Instagram, an online social networking service that allows photos and videos to be filtered and shared publicly.

When the girl's mother learned what happened, she went to the suspect's house in the 1100 block of Frederick at about 5:30 p.m. and confronted him, Roechner said. He responded by pulling out a weapon that ended up being a BB-gun, he said.

The woman notified police, and the teen was arrested at about 6:20 p.m. and charged with obscenity for posting the photo and disorderly conduct for pointing a BB-gun at the woman, he said.

The photo was recovered from the suspect's phone, he said.

The teen is being held in the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.

What is going on in the girls head that she felt like it was ok to send a nude pic? How much can he really care about you if he posted it on the internet? I hope she learned her lesson. That's why I get my kids phones & do a search through all messages & online dealings that they have. Even if raised in good homes tens sometimes do really silly things! We just need to pay closer attention to our teens.

I disagree with Steve. A 16 year old boy, confronted by the mother of a 15 year old whose naked pictures he posted to the internet, SHOULD be afraid for his life.
OldePharte December 11, 2013 at 05:58 PM
Something tells me these two kids are NOT going to grow up and become doctors.
Chris December 11, 2013 at 06:54 PM
Interesting fact: These two will be voting in 2-3 years.
Danny December 12, 2013 at 12:19 AM
Chris, now THAT is a scary thought
Sheriffchris December 12, 2013 at 11:08 AM
The BB gun charge will be dropped, she should not have gone after a "minor" in his own home. The Mother's daughter will also face "child porn charges" as she was the originator of the nude picture. What a mess ! Mothers talk to your daughters ... because they are obviously STUPID
Phil Collins December 12, 2013 at 11:52 AM
Might not want the Daughter to see this Outlaw anymore and a talk with her might do some good too.
tommy whirple December 12, 2013 at 12:30 PM
that little punk pulls out a gun on a Mom? he needs some jail time.
Chris C December 12, 2013 at 01:50 PM
If Obama had a daughter, she would look just like this girl.
Southpaw December 12, 2013 at 02:21 PM
Kids today have NO respect for adults or themselves either (and what young girl with a brain in her head sends naked photos of herself to a cell phone with everything we've read about social media?) So the a-hole pulled a BB gun. I guess Mom is lucky it wasn't a rifle or a shotgun. Amazing how kids think nothing of hurting others today.
Cindi O'Connell December 12, 2013 at 04:56 PM
We had a president who told young girls that oral sex wasn't sex. We have an entertainment culture where stars make sex tapes. Why are we surprised that some girl would send a naked picture of herself to a boy?
vszendzial December 12, 2013 at 05:34 PM
For all those voicing their opinions as facts...... : In Illinois, sexting can result in charges carrying a punishment of supervision by the state, in addition to counseling and community service. The law changed in July 2010, after Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation replacing former charges of creating, possession and distribution of child pornography for the same crime. In the United States, it is against the law to possess lewd photographs of minors. A New York lawyer is petitioning for federal sexting legislation that would make sexting a misdemeanor for minors.
Alan Lamb December 12, 2013 at 06:55 PM
about dam time the cops did there job.
Alan Lamb December 12, 2013 at 06:56 PM
it should be a felony for miners as well as adults.
Terry Eckiss December 12, 2013 at 07:10 PM
Why wasn't the girl charged with distribution of child porn?
Joel Craig December 12, 2013 at 08:49 PM
The laws were changed a couple years ago to protect minors from being saddled for life with all the ramifications of a felony sex crime (jail, sex offender status, registry requirements, etc) for this type of juvenile sexting. Now whether or not the boy in this case deserves further punishment, and whether his actions rise to felony status, is up for question due to his posting the photo on Instagram. However, while certainly lacking in good judgement, the majority of these kids, and they are kids, are not sex offenders and should not be labeled by the court as such.

I don't understand how some people here consider a minor taking a photo of themselves the same as an adult creating, possessing or disseminating pornographic material depicting a minor. Although it's an extremely BAD idea, it in no way should be a felony. The whole point of the age-of-consent is that a minor is not mature enough to make a mature intelligent decision. Obviously these minors did not make mature intelligent decisions. They shouldn't have to suffer the rest of their lives for it.

I find it interesting that so many are quick to jump on the boy. The female should not have taken a nude picture and shouldn't have sent it to the boy. She is at fault as much as the boy. As for the BB gun, the mother should have addressed his parents, not him.
Charli December 13, 2013 at 07:44 AM
In every patch post there is a racist idiot who has to bring up President Obama. I don't believe this post stayed the race of either child! How do we know she wouldn't look like Bush?
Fredrick December 13, 2013 at 09:44 AM
I agree with you Charli, and hope the nitwit Chris C read your post, I won't accuse him of any kind of racism because he didn't mention any, but can accuse him of being an idiot.
Leroy December 13, 2013 at 11:51 AM
It's funny that the people that insult Obama aren't making his kind of money or have his kind of educational backround, or the ability to do what he has been put in office to do, put your money where your mouth is. If you can do it better than him prove it first talk is cheap for all of you... If B.S. was money some of you would be millionaires by now. People who criticize the president are like kids criticizing their parents, you have no idea what is involved till you get there yourself if you ever do, and if you do it better than good for you, but until you do or have done it, then it makes no difference in how you feel about it. It's not you running things and there is probably a good reason for it, because you are incapable of such a task and lack the knowledge and skills for it as well. Dumb fools show simplicity over intellect everytime... Also just because you assume you understand doesn't mean you really understand...

Mongo December 31, 2013 at 10:19 AM
@Leroy, First of all no one has insulted Obama. You left wing Lucy's really need to get a grip. Anyway, since when is criticizing the president such a terrible thing. If the left wingers in this country had there way, we'd all be listening to and watching only the programs that they would allow. The problem with people like you Leroy is its gotta be your way or the highway and when you can't get your way you throw insults and snide remarks around ( whose the adult now). Everyone has a right to express their opinion, feeble or otherwise, and you have no right to criticize just because it doesn't meet your criteria or standards. Chill out Leroy! I realize that the weight of our constitution is a great load for a spineless left wing Lucy like yourself to carry but it's here to stay, Thank God! And that's no insult.
Herc December 31, 2013 at 10:30 AM
I agree with you Mongo, it was okay to bash Bush, Ron Paul, Romney or anyone conservative. But, Obama the new messiah is off limits! Well guess what folks, he's a piece of garbage just like any other politician! Deal with it!

The teen reportedly obtained the photo from his 15-year-old girlfriend, who sent it to his cell phone, Cmdr. Al Roecher said. Do not use a period for an abbreviation in mid-sentence. Either spell it out -- Commander.

@ Chris stupid! The president had two daughters! ! Duh! And she most likely look yours. . Let you know what she had been doing she should have went to jail also. ...
