Teen Flees 4-Car Crash She Caused, Police Say

Two people received minor injuries in the accident at Jefferson Street and Airport Road, Capt. Tab Jensen said.

A 16-year-old girl who caused a four-car accident in which two people were injured -- and then fled the scene -- was arrested at her home Thursday, Joliet police said.

The crash occurred at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday on westbound Jefferson Street at Airport Road, Capt. Tab Jensen said.

The girl apparently rear-ended a car, pushing that vehicle into the car in front of them and the third vehicle into the fourth, Jensen said. Two people suffered minor injuries and were transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment.

Instead of staying and speaking to police, the teen left the scene, Jensen said. Witnesses took note of her car and license plate number, and police later arrested her at her home.

The girl was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and transported her to the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.
