Suspect Tased After Swinging Frying Pan at Cop: Police
Jason Bingham allegedly lashed out at officers after being accused of stealing a friend's car radio.
A Joliet man is accused of trying to strike a police officer with a frying pan after allegedly swiping a friend's radio.
Jason Bingham, 34, of the 600 block of McDonough, Joliet, was arrested just before 1 a.m. Sunday after police went to his home to investigate the alleged theft, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
Roechner said a friend reported discovering that his car radio was missing after Bingham had allegedly been in the car.
When officers went to Bingham's home to ask him about the stolen radio, he appeared "highly intoxicated" and allegedly pushed a cop, Roechner said.
Bingham is also accused of picking up a frying pan that had oil in it and swinging it at an officer.
Police used a Taser to subdue Bingham, Roechner said.
Bingham was booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting an officer and obstructing justice, according to jail records.
