Shooting Victim's Brother Arrested for Firing Gun Outside Funeral Home

Jeremy Hoehn, whose brother survived the gang-related attack that killed Christopher Perry Jr., is accused of shooting the gun during Perry's visitation, Joliet police said.

The man who fired a gun outside the funeral home where murder victim Christopher Perry Jr.'s visitation was being held is the brother of the man shot with Perry, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.

Jeremy L. Hoehn, 21, of 416 Leach, Joliet, was arrested on a warrant Thursday and booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm as a gang member, possession of a firearm with an FOID card and felon in possession of a firearm.

The shooting occurred at about 4:25 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Minor-Morris Funeral Home at 112 Richards St.

Joliet police heard the gunfire and raced to the area, but while a weapon was recovered, no arrest was made at the time. However, one of the officers recognized Hoehn as the possible shooter and the police department issued a warrant for Hoehn's arrest, Demick said.

Initially, Hoehn denied his involvement but changed his story when informed he had been identified by a police officer, Demick said. He told investigators that someone had shot at him, and he was returning fire, Demick said.
