Several People Involved in Romeoville Kohl's Shooting

Todd Sherman, a photographer who was on the scene after the incident, provides dramatic description of what happened.

Gunfire erupted outside of a Kohl's Department Store in Romeoville late Thursday night, according to police, as people got a start on Black Friday shopping.

Several people were hurt, including a police officer, reports the Chicago Tribune, but none of the injuries were life-threatening. A black Pontiac sedan with bullet holes was parked in front of the store, according to the Tribune.

Todd Sherman, a photographer who operates Northern Illinois FireGround Photos, described what happened when gunfire erupted at a Kohl's Department:

"One male black suspect was shot after attempting to flee the scene during a retail theft ... officer gave chase on foot, offender jumped in a waiting getaway vehicle & slammed door on officers arm, trapping & dragging the police officer.

"2nd officer pulled up and saved the officer's life by shooting the driver ... stopping that getaway driver that had every intention to flee that scene at high speed with a police officer hanging from the door. Per Romeoville Police Chief. Both officers were transported to the hospital and thank God they are in good condition. No word on the offender's condition."
