Salem Village Employee Sexually Assaults Patient, Police Say
Renato Timola is being held on charges of criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault, Joliet police Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
A Salem Village Nursing Home employee was arrested on charges he raped a 19-year-old mentally challenged woman in her bed, Joliet police said.
Renato T. Timola, 46, of 7604 Ridgefield Lane, Tinley Park, was arrested Saturday and charged with criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault in connection with the attack, which was witnessed by a co-worker at about 5:45 a.m.
The employee called police after entering the victim's room and observing that the patient's pants had been pulled down and Timola was sexually assaulting her, Roechner said.
Timola is a certified nursing assistant who has worked at Salem Village, 1314 Rowell Ave., since 2012, he said.
He is being held in the Will County jail on $750,000 bond.
