A man's assailants waited for him to fall asleep before dragging him outside to beat and rob him, police said.

A man dragged down an apartment building's stairs and beaten with his own belt was waylaid for getting too friendly while dancing with another man's girlfriend, police said.

Two Joliet men were arrested Thursday in connection with the early Saturday morning attack. Jakob Bettner-Hollenback, 26, of 314 Ruby and Donzel Williamson, 18, of 516 Kungs Way both were charged with aggravated battery.

Bettner-Hollenback also was charged with theft for allegedly taking the beaten man's Samsung phone and Bulls hat.

Both Bettner-Hollenback, the apparent host of the party, and Williamson were angered by the guest's alleged over-familiarity with one of their women, police said.

Bettner-Hollenback and Williamson waited for the man to fall asleep, then grabbed him, dragged him down the stairs, and beat and kicked him.

The beaten man then lost his belt to his assailants and they used it to whip him, police said.

Bettner-Hollenback is being held at the Will County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond. Williamson also remains in custody. His bond was set at $50,000.
