Rollover Crash at I-80/I-55 Junction Injures Driver, Police Say

The accident was the second to occur at that location in the last week.

For the second time in a week, a rollover accident at the junction of interstates 55 and 80 has left a driver injured, the Illinois State Police said.

The most recent crash occurred at about 7 a.m. Friday as the driver was eastbound on I-80 at the juncture where traffic merges onto I-55, Sgt. Scott Angus said.

Although no details of what caused the accident were available, Angus said the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. No other vehicles were involved.

A similar accident occurred on Jan. 10, when a truck driver rolled his semi as he was attempting to go from eastbound I-80 onto northbound I-55 at about 2:40 p.m., state police said. In that case, the driver was also injured and transported to Presence St. Joseph.
