Rashid Facing Charges in Six Separate Criminal Cases

The Joliet police arrest log shows the twice-convicted felon facing counts of armed robbery, residential burglary, car theft and other charges. That is in addition to two counts of aggravated battery filed by the county.

Zeeshan Rashid is just 19 years old, but he may not see the outside of a prison cell until he is a middle-aged man if convicted of the laundry list of charges filed against him Tuesday by Joliet police.

Rashid was arrested early Tuesday morning on warrants issued by the Joliet Police Department and Will County Sheriff's Office. The bust came less than 24 hours after the two departments issued a notice describing him as "armed and extremely dangerous" and asking for the public's help in finding him.

Although details on the charges he now faces have not yet been released, it is known the Will County warrant was in connection with a double shooting that occurred June 13. Two men were injured while standing on a back porch but survived the attack.

Joliet police said they also wanted to speak with Rashid about the shooting death of 18-year-old Adrian Resendiz that took place early Sunday morning. No arrest has been made in that case.

These are the charges Rashid currently faces, according to the Joliet Police Department arrest log. More details should be forthcoming.

According to Illinois Department of Corrections records, Rashid has already served two prison terms. He did about a year of a 24-month sentence in 2011 for an attempted robbery conviction and less than a year of a one-year sentence in 2012 for felony theft. The latter was served at Shawnee Correctional Center.

He was arrested by Joliet police in January for obstructing identification and in April for resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The out-of-town warrant listed above was issued by the Department of Corrections, likely tied to a parole violation from Rashid's second conviction.

Prison records show Rashid is small in size and stature, standing just 5-foot-6 and weighing about 130 pounds. His collection of tattoos include the word "Arab" on his right forearm, two dollar signs his left forearm, a five-point star on his right hand and the word "official" on his forehead.
