Police Increase Patrols After Alleged Rock-Throwing Incident

Witnesses say kids or teens were pelting cars with rock near Caton Farm and County Line roads.

Joliet police have stepped up patrols after a group of kids or teenagers allegedly pelted cars with rocks near Caton Farm and County Line roads.

In a message posted to Plainfield Patch's boards, reader Justin Bauer said he was heading west on Caton Farm Road around 4 a.m. Monday when he spotted barrels blocking the intersection at County Line Road — apparently set up by the alleged pranksters.

Bauer said he got out of the car to move the barrels, since there was no posted road closure, and heard voices and the sound of rocks hitting the ground. "There [were] kids throwing rocks at me and my car," he said, adding that a coworker later reported experiencing a similar incident in the area.

Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said police did not receive any reports about the alleged rock-throwing, but noted that patrols in the area were increased after police were contacted by Patch.

"If people see something like that, they should call the police," Roechner said.

On Plainfield Patch's Facebook page, readers shared similar reports, including another rock-throwing incident at County Line Road and Pyramid Drive.

"A week ago in the Clearwater Springs subdivision ... people were complaining that teenagers were throwing rocks at their houses at about 3 a.m.," reader Jeff Richardson wrote. "Unfortunately, this is not a new problem."

Reader Cindy Beard said she called police after a similar incident several weeks ago. "Two teenage boys were standing on the roof of a house on Theodore throwing rocks," she wrote.
