PTO Mom Accused of Stealing Has Post-Christmas Court Date

Lisa Lydon is accused of bilking the Grand Prairie PTO out of more than $10,000.

A woman who served as president and treasurer of a Plainfield School District elementary school PTO is due in court later this week, charged with stealing more than $10,000 from the organization.

  • Lisa Lydon, 41, of 2411 Westline Drive in Joliet, is charged with felony theft, and has a pretrial date of Dec. 27, according to Will County court records. She is accused of stealing from the PTO at Grand Prairie Elementary, 3300 Caton Farm Rd.

    According to the Herald-News, a warrant was issued for Lydon's arrest after she failed to show up for a meeting with a Joliet police detective. The meeting was arranged after another PTO member took over as treasurer in August and noticed some discrepancies in the PTO bank account, according to the report. Police said when questioned by the board, Lydon was unable to explain the discrepancies. Click here to read the full article.

    According to the Herald, Lydon was arrested Oct. 30 after surrendering to Wilmington police. Joliet police said Lydon is accused of depositing PTO funds into her own bank account between Nov. 1, 2012, and Aug. 23.

    A grand jury indicted Lydon on Nov. 7, the same day she was released from jail after posting $3,000 bond, according to court records.

    Meeting minutes posted on the Grand Prairie website show that Lydon was president and treasurer during the 2012-13 school year. Another member the PTO did not immediately return a message from Patch on Monday.
