Child-Rapist Prison Bound For 87 Years

A Joliet man convicted of raping a 6-year-old won't be getting near another child anytime soon.

A Joliet child-rapist was packed off to prison for 87 years.

Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes dropped the sentence on 32-year-old Jesse Perez Wednesday.

Perez was convicted on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault in March. It took the jury less than four hours to find him guilty.

“Jesse Perez is a deviant pedophile who will spend the rest of his life in prison for stealing the innocence of a little girl and inflicting tremendous physical and emotional harm on her,” Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow. said in a statement released by his office.

“This is the kind of violation that must be prosecuted aggressively and punished harshly," Glasgow said. "Judge Policandriotes sent a strong message through this sentence that such a crime against children will never be tolerated."

Perez sexually assaulting the 6-year-old daughter of his girlfriend in October of 2008. Perez was supposed to take the girl to a relative’s house, but instead took her to his Oneida Street apartment where he sexually assaulted her.

Judge Policandriotes noted the relationship between the defendant and the victim as well as the injuries the girl suffered when she handed down the strong sentence, according to the statement released by Glasgow's office.

Assistant State’s Attorneys Mark Fleszewski and Katie Tinich prosecuted Perez.
