Pair Left Heroin Stash at Culver's Restaurant, Police Say

Timothy Churnovic and Christopher Kocourek were arrested after they returned to the Route 59 restaurant to retrieve their drugs, Joliet police said.

Two men who left their heroin stash behind at a Culver's restaurant were arrested on drug possession charges Wednesday afternoon, Joliet police said.

An employee who was cleaning up after Timothy Churnovic, 22, of 1200 Nicholson, Joliet, and Christopher Kocourek, 20, of 21457 W. Chestnut, Plainfield, left the 1500 S. Route 59 fast-food business found a cigarette packet that contained about 1.5 grams of heroin, Capt. Les O'Connor said.

He notified Joliet police at about 3 p.m., and they apprehended the pair when they returned to retrieve the left-behind drugs, O'Connor said. Both made comments to investigators in which they implicated themselves in possessing the heroin, he said.

Churnovic and Kocourek were charged with possession of a controlled substance. Churnovic was being held at the Will County jail Thursday night in lieu of $10,000 bond. Kocourek was released from the jail but his bond was not available.
