Man Who Beat Pregnant Woman Going to Prison

Damon Stanislaus was sentenced to 1.5 years for the attack and six years for an unrelated burglary, reports say.

A man will be spending a year and a half in prison for beating his 8-months pregnant girlfriend and keeping her from seeking medical treatment.

Damon J. Stanislaus, 30, of the 3600 block of Buck Avenue, was also given a six-year prison term for an unrelated Joliet burglary, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.

The sentences were handed down after Stanislaus agreed to plead guilty to domestic battery and burglary; charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, battery and resisting police were dropped in exchange for the plea, the story said.
