Man Waylaid & Robbed on Joliet Street Corner

A Joliet man was forced into a car at gunpoint and robbed of his phone.

A Joliet man walking by the corner of Hutchins and Vine streets Sunday night was forced at gunpoint into a car and robbed.

The man told police his assailants pulled up on him in a blue Saturn shortly before 8:30 p.m.

A man in the backseat with long dreadlocks and a puffy coat brandished a handgun and ordered the pedestrian into the car, threatening to shoot him if he did not comply, police said.

Once inside the car, the dreadlocked gunman demanded the man's property, saying, "Give me what you got," according to police. The driver was also armed but did not make any threats or demands, police said.

The man surrendered his Samsung phone and was released from the car. He was told to walk toward Ruby Street without looking back or he would be shot, police said.

The man called the law when he made it back to his home on Hickory Street.
