Man Wanted By Cops For Endangering Children Endangers Child While Running From Cops: Police

The man was carrying a 3-year-old while he tried to run away from the cops, police said.

A man wanted for allegedly beating his girlfriend and leaving his children to fend for themselves put another youngster in harm's way when he carried him along while running from the cops, police said.

Marvell Beals, 20, of 363 N. Broadway was apprehended after a short chase near his home about 11 a.m. Wednesday. He was carrying a 3-year-old child in his arms during the brief pursuit, police said.

Beals was wanted for allegedly beating his live-in girlfriend during a July 1 argument over money, police said. The girlfriend left to call the cops after Beals punched her, then pulled her hair and bit her bicep, police said. Beals allegedly took off after her, making himself scarce before the law arrived. And when he did so, he left his four young children alone in the apartment, police said.

The police obtained a warrant for Beals' arrest. The warrant charged him with domestic battery and child endangerment.

Officers chased and arrested Beals after spotting him in an Evergreen Terrace stairwell with the young child.
