Man Made Threats with a Gun When Not Allowed to See His Children, Police Say

A second man was arrested for firing a gun into the air during the same incident, Joliet Lt. Robert Desiderio said.

A man who pulled out a gun when demanding to see his children at the Joliet home of his ex-girlfriend was arrested Sunday night, Joliet police said.

Khalid M. Hasan, 30, 1340 Pioneer Road, Crest Hill, went to the 506 W. Bellarmine Drive house of his former girlfriend at about 6 p.m. and was met at the door by the woman's current boyfriend, who refused to allow him to see the children, Joliet Lt. Robert Desiderio said.

The argument escalated, prompting Hasan to produce a handgun and point it at the victim, Desiderio said. Simultaneously, one of Hasan's four friends, who were waiting for him inside a van, jumped out and started firing his gun in the air, he said.
