Man, Teens Steal Bike and Cash in Saturday Robbery, Cops Say

The trio were busted a little more than an hour later because the victim was able to identify two of his three attackers, police said.

A 20-year-old Joliet man and two teens robbed a man of his bike, cash and other possessions Saturday night, Joliet police said.

William Yano, of 1114 Oakland Ave., and his two accomplices, ages 16 and 13, were arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, a little more than an hour after they allegedly robbed their 18-year-old victim in the 500 block of Moran Street, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

The two teens reportedly knew the victim and stopped to speak with him at about 10:20 p.m., Roechner said. Yano pushed the man from his bike and the three began kicking and hitting him before going through his pockets and taking $17, a pair of headphones, his state ID card and a lighter, he said.

After they departed with his bike, the victim called police and was able to identify two of his attackers. Police found all three in a 1020 Oakland Ave. house, where the victim positively identified them, Roechner said. His belongings were also recovered from the residence, he said.

Yano and the two juveniles were charged with felony robbery. Yano is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. The teens are being held in the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.
