Man Survives Monday Night Drive-By Shooting

It was the second incident in a week in which someone has been shot three times by unknown assailants in a car, Joliet police said.

A 19-year-old Joliet man was shot three times in a drive-by shooting that took place at 7:30 p.m. Monday on the near East Side, Joliet police said.

The victim was walking across a parking lot at 111 McDonough St. when an unknown vehicle fired three shots, striking him in the stomach, leg and foot, Capt. Tab Jensen said.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, and the victim is in stable condition at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Jensen said.

There are no suspects in the incident, and the victim was described as "uncooperative," he said.

It was the second drive-by shooting in less than a week in which a victim was struck and injured. On Jan. 16, a man driving near Cherry and Munroe streets told police a car he did not recognize drove up to his vehicle and fired nine shots, three of which hit him, reports said.

His injuries were also non-life-threatening, Joliet police said.
