Man Knifed for Making Rude Comment about Woman: Cops

Rolando Centeno reportedly stabbed a man who allegedly said something derogatory about Centeno's girlfriend, Joliet police said.

A fight that ignited between two men when one made a derogatory comment about the other's girlfriend led to one being stabbed and the other arrested, Joliet Police Cmdr. Brian Benton said.

Police were called to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet at about 9 p.m. Friday about a man who came in with life-threatening knife wounds to his back shoulder, Benton said.

Although the victim wasn't cooperative, investigators were able to determine that he and Rolando Centeno, 23, were at Centeno's 409 Plainfield Road apartment when the victim allegedly made a rude comment about Centeno's girlfriend, he said. That prompted a physical fight during which Centeno allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed the man, Benton said.

The victim underwent surgery and it appears he will survive his injuries, he said.

Centeno was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. He is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Centeno was also arrested on a warrant issued by Livingston County. The warrant lists his address as 1400 Creekside Circle, Minooka.
