A Shorewood man who apparently wanted to get back at a former girlfriend by having Joliet police arrest her on an outstanding warrant had his plan backfire Saturday morning, police said.
Robert M. Jurica, 52, was waiting for Brandi L. Musiol, 31, to exit a business at 611 W. Jefferson St. at about 9 a.m., Joliet Police Capt. Tab Jensen said. When she did, he tackled her, put her into a bear hug and then called police, Jensen said.
Witnesses observed the attack, and officers who arrived on the scene examined Musiol's injuries and decided to charge Jurica with felony aggravated domestic battery, he said.
Musiol was arrested on the warrant, which was for failure to appear at a court hearing for a June 2012 arrest in which she was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, jail records show.
Jurica, of 24424 W. Pellinore, was released on $5,000 bond.
Musiol, of 13705 Kitty Hawk, Plainfield, is being held in the Will County jail and no bond has been set. She had previously been released on $5,000 bail in connection with the firearm charge; her next court hearing is Feb. 11.
