Man Pleads Guilty to Child Sex Assault; Victim 6 When It Started

Jason Hagerstrom admitted to having sex hundreds of times with the girl, starting when she was 8 and ending when she was 17, a prosecutor said.

A Joliet man who admitted to having sex with a young girl hundreds of times, starting when she was just 8 years old, has pleaded guilty to seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Jason D. Hagerstrom, 36, will be sentenced Dec. 3 and faces a minimum of 42 years in prison, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.

Hagerstrom's relationship with the girl came to light in late December when the victim's mother learned about it and brought her 17-year-old daughter to the Joliet Police Department to make a videotaped statement.

At the time of his arrest, Hagerstrom provided extensive details about his sexual relationship with the victim, which started with sexual contact when she was 6 and escalated to sexual intercourse when she was 8, Will County Assistant State's Attorney Frank Byers said at Hagerstrom's January bond hearing.

Police also found videos on Hagerstrom's cell phone showing the couple unclothed and having sex, the prosecutor said.

Hagerstrom was arrested on Dec. 29 and has been held in the Will County jail since then on $5 million bond.
