Man Dies After Crash in Crest Hill: Coroner

Family friend says health issues may have sparked crash.

A Lockport man died hours after a one-car crash that knocked down a traffic signal post in Crest Hill Friday afternoon, officials said.

John K. Vidican Sr., 76, was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m. Friday at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, according to the Will County Coroner's office.

Several hours earlier, Vidican's car crashed into the pole near Route 30 and Larkin Avenue.

A woman who said she is a close friend of Vidican's family asked to remain anonymous, but said Vidican may have had a diabetic episode and subsequent heart attack leading up to the crash.

Crest Hill police, who did not respond to a message from Patch on Friday, are investigating the crash, according to the coroner's office.
