Man Charged in Sister Murder Won't Take Psych Test

Before he can stand trial on charges he murdered his sister, Mark Lewis is supposed to undergo a psychological evaluation.

But the accused killer isn't making that easy.

Mark Lewis, 52, failed to cooperate with Dr. Randi Zoot's attempt to administer the psych test, according to a report cited during a Friday morning hearing.

Will County Judge Daniel Rozak scheduled a July 2 hearing to revisit the matter.

Lewis' 59-year-old sister, Cathleen Lewis, was found beaten to death in her Naperville home in June 2011.

Mark Lewis was charged with murder, home invasion and residential burglary in connection with the attack at his sister's Worthing Drive residence. He was before he was transported to the to await trial.

Mark Lewis also faces charges of identity theft for allegedly using his mother's identification to cash $2,000 worth of checks a month and a day after his sister was slain.

Lewis is attempting to represent himself in both the murder and identity theft cases. The psychiatric evaluation—if it ever happens—will determine if he is fit to do that.

During Friday morning's hearing, Lewis asked Judge Rozak if he was allowed to speak. Rozak told him he wasn't.
