Man Arrested in Sex Assault on 20-Month-Old

The incident occurred in May 2006, but only recently did a DNA sample link Demetrius Beal to the alleged crime.

A Joliet man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 20-month-old girl in May 2006 has been arrested after DNA evidence linked him to the crime, Joliet police said.

Demetrius A. Beal, 27 of 914 Woodruff, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with predatory criminal sexual assault, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.

Beal was dating the mother of the child at the time but denied any involvement in the assault, the story said. DNA had been taken from the child, but Beal's DNA wasn't in the computer system at the time. It's since been added because of Beal's conviction on a cocaine possession charge, and the link was recently made in the case, the story said.

Beal is being held in the Will County jail on lieu of $350,000 bond.

See now this is what prisons should be used for not petty non violent crimes....forever I see Will County filling up the jails and prisons with drug users only for them to get out and get high.lol..But I guess the city makes more money arresting drug users....Cases like this is where the public does not care about the time and resources used to catch someone...but everyone is getting upset about all the stupid charges being racked up on people, time and resources used to get non violent people just for profit...The State,Federal, and Local governments know the war on drugs is not doing anything but filling prisons, draining money and making prison owners richer and more powerful to be able to influence more laws to lock more people up...while all resources should be put towards cases like this,robbery,murder....Not some guy smoking a joint in his own house...Or some one with a dime bag of weed...lol

What a disgusting sorry excuse for a human being. I hope he gets worse in prison. He won't get the chair unfortunately but hopefully a fellow prisoner will take care of that, but only after he's been tortured first. Makes me sick.
